On-site identification of pathogens by DNA analysis

The ilochip (integrated-lab-on-chip) device addresses significant unmet needs: No low-cost, portable and fully integrated airborne pathogen detectors are currently available.

The following features summarize the competitive edge of the ilochip technology:

• Speed and accuracy: Rapid, reliable, on-site analysis with results in less than 25 minutes
• True mobility: Fully integrated with small size and mass
• Ease of use: Hand-held format. Highly automated with minimal man-machine interface.
• Robust: No fragile components and few moving parts
• Price: Expected low manufacturing cost and competitive market pricing.
• The ilochip device consists of two components: a consumable chip and a durable
  control and reader unit.

Prototype products have been extensively tested in the laboratory and in the field, and several patents for the various elements of the technology are pending.
